How to Pack LCD Panels for Shipping

Open cell panel packaging standards we apply to every shipment — and what to check when panels arrive at your door.

Open cell panels are bare LCD glass: no chassis, no housing, and a polarizer surface that marks easily. Most transit damage in this trade comes from three things — flat stacking, missing corner protection, and re-used cartons. This guide summarizes the open cell panel packaging standard we use for every export shipment.

1 · Vertical orientation, always

LCD panels are engineered to stand on edge. Laying them flat concentrates the whole stack's weight on the bottom glass, which cracks panels under vibration even if nothing is visibly dropped. Pack and ship panels vertical (on edge), in their original or replacement edge protectors, with dividers between units.

2 · Foam and corner protection

Each panel travels in an anti-static bag, then in industrial-grade foam (EPE or EPS) on all six sides, with rigid corner guards. Open cell panels are especially exposed at the corners — the glass edge has no bezel to absorb a knock. If corner guards are missing, do not accept the packing.

3 · Double-wall cartons, not single

For panels up to 65", a double-wall export carton per one or two units is standard. Above 65", individual crating or foam-in-place inside a carton is the safer route. Single-wall cartons and supermarket-grade boxes fail under stacking in container transit.

4 · Palletizing for container lots

Container and LCL shipments should be palletized: panels vertical on the pallet edge, strapped, no overhang, top row capped with a protection board so nothing stacks directly on the cartons. Mark pallets "fragile — glass, do not lay flat" on at least two sides.

5 · Air freight differences

Air freight adds handling steps, not fewer. Use the same foam and corner standard, keep cartons within airline size limits, and expect security screening — so pack for re-closing: panels should survive the carton being opened and re-taped at inspection.

6 · On arrival: check before signing

Photograph every pallet and carton before opening. If any carton shows impact, denting or water marks, note it on the delivery receipt before signing. Power-on inspection within the agreed receiving window protects your claim position — our warranty & claims terms are built around that window.
